Fire Delays Debut of New Emerald Waterways Ship
A fire at the Den Breejen Shipyard in the Netherlands has forced Emerald Waterways to delay the debut of its newest ship, the Emerald Belle, until after April.
The fire broke out late Sunday night, seriously damaging the Emerald Belle and causing minor damage to a Scenic ship that was dry-docked in the same shipyard. The Emerald Belle’s onboard firefighting system was not yet installed. Authorities are still investigating what caused the fire.
Emerald is notifying agents who have clients booked on the ship and is “reviewing all bookings to see how best to accommodate guests on similar departures on other Emerald ships or possibly on her sister company, Scenic.”
