Murder Mystery Night Turns Into The Real Thing On Emerald Princess

The 3,400 passengers aboard the Emerald Princess spent a few extra hours in Juneau yesterday as federal officials investigated the case of a domestic dispute that turned deadly. on what some media have reported was a Murder Mystery Night on the ship.
The U.S. attorney’s office said it will hold a news conference with representatives of the FBI and Coast Guard today in Anchorage to announce the filing of federal murder charges against the husband of 39-year-old Kristy Manzanare, who is in custody for killing her in their cabin in U.S. waters off the coast of Alaska. The couple was traveling with a group that included their children on an eight-day cruise that left Seattle on Sunday.
It was Murder Mystery Night on the ship, and many passengers who heard the screaming and commotion at first thought it was all part of the show. But the Emerald Princess was diverted to Juneau and passengers were kept on board for more than eight hours.
The ship’s July 26 visit to Tracy Arm Fjord was canceled, but no further schedule changes are expected for the cruise, which left late Wednesday for Skagway.
Conversations are underway to offer passengers compensation for lost time, such as providing credits for shore excursions, Princess Cruises spokeswoman Negin Kamali said.
