Gifted Travel Network (GTN) on Monday announced that co-founder and chief sales and marketing officer Vanessa McGovern will depart the company on April 23.
McGovern, who has spent the past 12 years with GTN, launched the company with the team from the Global Institute of Travel Entrepreneurs (GIFTE) in 2013. She is leaving to “pursue another opportunity,” GTN said.
In the announcement, GTN CEO Jen Cochrane thanked McGovern for her time with the company, writing, “Vanessa is embarking on a new chapter in her career.”
“Vanessa’s passion for developing travel entrepreneurs and elevating industry standards has been instrumental in establishing GTN as a leader in the travel advisor community,” Cochrane said. “While we will certainly miss her energy and vision, we’re excited to see her pursue her growing passion for luxury travel leadership and female empowerment in our industry.”
Last year, McGovern was awarded the Barbara O’Hara Advocacy Award for her work with the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA), supporting ASTA’s advocacy initiatives, grassroots campaign, and ASTAPAC funding.
GTN recently held its annual symposium, the first since its sale to Trevello World Holdings Inc. became official. Speaking at the event, executives told TMR that the new ownership will not change much about how GTN operates but will expand and enhance opportunities for GTN advisors. The teams at Trevello and GTN are working together on technology and partnerships that could be mutually beneficial.
