The partnership between Delta Air Lines and Uber, first unveiled at CES in January, is now officially live.
While some Delta SkyMiles members who joined the waitlist earlier this year can begin linking their accounts today, all members will be able to link their Uber and SkyMiles accounts starting April 24. Once linked, members will automatically earn miles through purchases on both Uber and Uber Eats.
The number of miles earned will depend on the type of Uber purchase. Higher-end services will earn more miles per dollar. Here’s the breakdown:
- 3 miles per eligible dollar spent on Uber Reserve trips
- 2 miles per eligible dollar spent on premium rides such as Uber Comfort and Uber Black
- 1 mile per eligible dollar spent on UberX rides to and from airports
- 1 mile per eligible dollar spent on $40+ restaurant and grocery orders with Uber Eats
According to the companies, more than 15% of all Uber rides either begin or end at an airport, making it a natural partnership. The goal, according to Delta CEO Ed Bastian’s talk at CES, is to connect Delta to its flyers door-to-door and reward that connection with miles.
